Dinge die Amerikaner sagen - Things that americans say

Hallo Leute,

wahrscheinlich habt ihr schon von verschiedenen lustigen fragen gehört die andere Austauschschüler gestellt bekommen gehaben. Wen ihr noch nicht von solchen gehört habt, hier ist ein Beispiel welches ich nicht gestellt bekommen habe aber jemand anderes.

"Habt ihr Auto´s in Deutschland?"

Ich wurde öfters gefragt wann ich denn mein Handy gekauft habe, da wir ja in Deutschland keine haben. Auch kam die frage in welcher Sprache ich denn mit meiner Familie schreibe.

Eines Tages hat mich ein Junge gefragt ob wir in Deutschland Niederländisch sprechen und als ich geantwortet habe dass wir Deutsch sprechen hat er mich gefragt ob ich es denn fließend kann.

Außerdem sagen Amerikaner richtig oft wie schade es doch ist dass die meisten Leute hier nur Englisch können und eine zweite Fremdsprache ja nicht Pflicht ist.

Natürlich kann ich es ja verstehen aber was ich mir dann immer denke ist warum die Person dann nicht anfängt eine andere Sprache zu lernen denn es gibt auch möglich außerhalb der Schule. Was man einfach braucht ist Motivation. 

Meine Gastfamilie hat ganz oft betont wie schade sie es finden dass sie wahrscheinlich nie aus den USA raus kommen werden. Ok dazu kann ich nicht viel sagen, nur dass ich glücklich bin in Europa zu leben besonders so nah an der Grenze wo es für mich normal ist mal rüber in die Niederlande zu gehen. 

Was übrigens auch oft kommt ist die Aussage wie sehr sie ein ATJ machen würden, dann sagen sie dass sie es wahrscheinlich während des Collages machen werden. Diese Aussage kam von fast jeden in meinen Alter mit dem ich geredet habe. Die meisten schieben es dann wie bereits gesagt entweder auf oder schieben es darauf dass deren Fremdsprachkenntnisse nicht gut genug sind. Ich sage dann einfach immer das sie sich einfach mal etwas mehr informieren sollen um mehr über die Möglichkeiten raus zu finden. Denn die meisten die es aufschieben werden es dann später sowieso nicht während des Collages machen. 

Von ein Mädchen auf meiner Schule hab ich aber mitbekommen das sie wahrscheinlich ein Austauschjahr in Italien machen wird nächstes Jahr. 

Was mir und meiner besten Freundin aufgefallen ist das wir manchmal was nicht wissen und uns dann drüber ärgern. Zum Beispiel ist mir aufgefallen dass ich mehr über der Amerikanischen Politik weiß als über der Deutschen aber dann ist mir eingefallen dass ich es nicht auf meine Schule in Deutschland schieben kann. Denn die Antwort halte ich die ganze Zeit in der Hand aber benutze sie nicht richtig und zwar mein Handy und das Internet denn wenn man was nicht weiß kann man es heut zutage einfach in Internet nachgucken, was aber am ende nur die wenigsten machen. 

Keine Ahnung ob sich dass jetzt etwas besserwisserisch anhört aber naja dass waren so meine Gedanken zu den Dingen die hier so erwähnt und gefragt wurden, vielleicht habe ich ja auch ein paar Leute zum nachdenken gebracht.

Hello, 

Maybe you heard about those funny questions which exchange students get asked before. If not I have an example, but before that I would like to point out that those questions just say that we are doing what we are supposed to do as exchange students to learn and teach about different countries. Now to the example, I never got asked that question but some other exchange students got asked that question.

"Do you have cars back in Germany?"

A lot of people asked me "When did you bought your phone? in the US right?", most of those people thought that we don´t have phones in Germany.
"When you text your family do you text in Englisch?" that person really thought that everyone in Germany would send messages in English
One time in class someone asked what language we speak in Germany that person thought we would speak Dutch and then that person asked me if I can speak German fluently

Many American people complain how sad it is that they don´t really learn languages in school because it is not really required in school and because of the fact that English is the world language many don´t have a motivation in learning another language.
I can kind of understand what they are saying but I also I can´t understand it because why those people are not starting to learn a language, on there own, outside of school. For example I just started to learn another language. I think the only thing which is required is motivation.

My Host family says sometimes that they will probably never leave the United States. Well I can´t really say a lot to that but I just can point out how happy and blessed I am by living in Europe and especially so close to the border so that going to the Netherlands is as usual as going to the neighbor city.

Also a lot of people in my age point out how badly they wanna do an exchange year but then they say that they probably they gonna do it during collage and that they don´t think they have all the language skills they need. I always tell those people that they just should inform themselves more about the opportunities, because I guess those people probably never gonna end up doing an exchange year.
One good think is that I heard from one girl that she decided to do an exchange year in Italy next year.

Well that is actually not a question but my friend and I noticed that we are sometimes disappointed about the school when we feel uneducated in some things. For example one time I said: "I feel like I know more about the American Government then the German Government". I blamed that on my school in Germany, but hen I noticed that I was holding the answers and some know legend right in my hands but we don´t use it in the right way and that is the internet and our phones instead of complaining we should just inform ourself.

I hope I don't sound like a nerd or a know it all person, those were just my thoughts and maybe I brought some people to think about the things that I have said.
